This isn’t the first time you’ve seen these 3 cuties on my blog! Their mom is actually a good friend of mine, and she’s let me photograph them before. But this time, it was their official “I’m a year older” photos.

You can tell that these girls definitely love each other. They are so good together! And mighty photogenic, I might add!

This was the photo session that was almost not meant to be!! We had to reschedule twice because of rain, and then on the day we actually were able to take Lily’s pictures, I was really late because of an accident on the freeway that backed up traffic and turned a 20 minute drive into almost an hour drive! But I’m so glad we were finally able to meet up and take Lily’s pictures. It’s crazy how much she has grown up since her 4 month photos!

This session started out all wrong – all my fault. My first mistake was deciding to bring my daughter along to kill two birds with one stone and do her 18-month photos after doing Maya’s photos. Well, I left the house in too much of a hurry, not thinking that it was so close to dinner time and my little girl is not happy with an empty tummy. Traffic was bad, so we were already running a little behind, so I had no time to stop and grab her something to snack on. To top things off, I needed gas, and I was honestly getting worried as I watched the gas light come on while driving up Little Cottonwood Canyon!!

Good thing the location was gorgeous and Maya was such a good model. This age is usually so hard because they don’t want to sit still and definitely don’t want to look at the camera, but Maya made my job easy. Even though my little girl wasn’t as cooperative, I’m so glad that Maya was, because these pictures were so fun to take and I think she looks like a little angel!

I have been so excited about the winners of my Just the Two of Us contest I held awhile back. The reason I decided to do couples for the contest was because I had just taken my parents’ photos, and I was really happy to have those pictures. They are something I will cherish forever. So when this couple won – who were submitted by one of their children – I was super excited. I’m sure their children will cherish these pictures just as much as I cherish the ones of my parents!!

One of the questions I get asked the most is “what should we wear?” My number one answer is – whatever you feel comfortable in. I always think it’s best when you are “you”. My second answer is to pick 2 or 3 colors that go together, but that aren’t necessarily matchy-matchy. If you have an upcoming session with me, the following might just be the thing you need to get a headstart on outfits!

I have a 16-month old. And she already hates having her picture taken. Whenever I get the camera out, lately all I get is the back of her head.

So when I went to take Joshua’s photos, I was a little apprehensive. He is a couple of months older than my little girl, but typically, at this age it’s hard to get a child to sit still. But Joshua was the perfect little model. It might have been because he was a little shy at first, but regardless, he made my job super easy!

And this first photo – might be one of my new favorite photos! I love it when parents bring along toys or things that their children love. It makes the photos even more personal! I also love that we went to the library to take these. Joshua is moving soon, and he loves the library. Now he will have photos from one of his favorite places.

I have a handful of locations where I photograph regularly. But my favorite thing is when a client has their own location where they want their session to take place. And sometimes, it just ends up perfectly. Like this session. We went to a few different locations, but my favorite was just a field where the light was magical. I could have taken their photos in that field all evening long! And even though their session was just a few hours ago, I couldn’t wait to get their photos up so that Chris, Ashley and Noelle can see them. What a beautiful family!

First of all, I just have to say how happy I am to see trees with leaves and green grass. I was all excited that spring was here, then we had that snow storm, and I started thinking that spring would never come! But these pictures prove otherwise. Even though it was nice and cloudy, we still had plenty of green going on and I even had to turn the air conditioner on in the car afterwards – probably from chasing these 2 around!

Caden and Ian crack me up. I think they were more interested in running and playing, but they were still good sports and showed me their wonderful smiles. Their mom is due with boy #3 in just 10 weeks, so we snuck in a few with the belly as well as a few photos with mom and dad, too.

{Chris, McKell & Hadley} | Utah Family & Couple Photographer

I was so excited to photograph this family!! Chris and McKell came in 2nd in my “Just the Two of Us” contest, then last week, they also won one of the free weekly sessions I was giving away. We decided to throw them both together and do a session with everything!

Hadley wasn’t too excited to be there, so I was happy I got a few photos of her! But Chris and McKell were a dream to photograph. I don’t do a lot of just couples, so this was a really fun photos session for me. I’m thinking now that I want to do even more couples! Especially if they all look like Chris and McKell. Check out that second photo – hot momma!!

{Free Photo Sessions!!} | Utah Photographer

This morning, I had an idea. And I’m sure it’s an idea that all of you will love!

How about a free photo session??

Who doesn’t like free? And for the next 4 weeks, I’ll be giving away a free photo session a week. But there is a catch. Here’s how it’s going to work:

One day a week, I will put up a post on my Facebook Fan page, specifying that that day is the day for the free photo session. The photo session has to take place on the day and time that I specify in the post. It also has to take place in Utah or Salt Lake County. So you need to be ready! Sometimes I may post the morning of, or maybe the day before. The first person to email me at deborahharrounphotography@gmail.com gets the session.

It’s that easy!

Each free session will include 5 digital images on a disc with printing rights, and of course, you can purchase more digital files or prints if you would like to.

And since the week is almost over, we’re starting today! The free photo session will be announced over on my Facebook Fan page today!
